All Day: Haiku Wall of Poetry, information table for local poetry groups and sales by participating poets, book signings, Guerilla Poetry exhibit.
10 to 10:45: Children's Poetry Contest/Organic Poetry - Judge and host Anna Evans (sponsored by Pop Shop)
** working with Doug Otto of Archway Programs to make this an inclusive event for special needs poets.
10:45 to noon: Writing Workshop with Peter Murphy or Murphy Writing Seminars - work off fun prompts to write a new poem with short reading of new works to follow.
Noon to 1: Italian-American Poets hosted by the Sons of Italy - Tribute to Haiku Master Nick Virgilio (new book); Remembering the poetry of Antonio Pisano; new works by J.T. Barbarese, award-winning poet and Rutgers professor.
1 to 2: Jason Henry Simon-Bierenbaum has made a name for himself as an educator, performer, and writer who refuses to take the easy way. His combination workshop/performance will explore the history of performance poetry (oral story telling, beat, modern music front men, slam) blended with performances of his and other people's poems. Then time for writing and getting you on stage. Audience members are encouraged to bring their notebooks as well as poems to share.
2 to 3: Occupy Poetry - Several (4 to 5) South Jersey poetry groups present one poem each celebrating the human experience.
3 to 4: Open Mic hosted by Brother Daoud Bey of Poetry in the Park/County Cultural and Heritage Commission and Arts for Teens.
